The Milieu Center offers a full time, 600 hour, unpaid Therapeutic Recreation internship program which satisfies NCTRC internship criteria. This highly structured internship program is offered two times per year corresponding to the start of the Fall and Spring semesters. Intern hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm.
We firmly believe in the relationship between The Milieu Center, student and university. The Milieu Center staff is committed to working as part of this team to help the student achieve the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to be a successful certified Recreation Therapist.
GOALS
The following internship program goals and objectives are based on The Milieu Center's needs, NCTRC and CBRPC internship requirements, and Grote and Hasl (1998):
Provide students with the opportunity to apply APIE process in a clinical setting.
Offer students an internship program that satisfies NCTRC and CBRPC certification requirements.
Provide opportunities for students to gain insight into and perspectives on the TR profession.
